Speaking to NVIDIA, World of Warcraft game director Tom Chilton and lead systems designer Greg Street have allowed us to put together two developer diary videos for Blizzard's latest WoW expansion: Cataclysm.

In the first video, Chilton discusses the large amount of work it took the development team to input all of the new quests within the the old world. The game director also brings up the issue of increasing the game's level cap by five (from 80 to 85) as opposed to by 10 (as previous expansions did). In this developer diary, Chilton also talks about the risks of breaking down old constructs in favor of the rewards that building new worlds brings.

The second video, featuring Greg Street, delves more into Blizzard's approach on handling revamped quests and skills. The game's lead systems designer asserts that it was very important that Blizzard had the perfect balance of introducing new content for veteran players and easing newbies into the massively-multiplayer online role-playing game. Street also talks about the large amount of work and polish that went into the creation of cataclysm.

The first video is featured below. To check out all the videos we have on Cataclysm, see here.
