With the assistance of a rousing musical accompaniment, Bethesda Softworks has excited role-playing fans the world over through the release of an Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim trailer comprised entirely of in-game footage. Actor Max von Sydow narrates as the camera swoops and pans around the fantasy world, stopping occasionally to highlight quick slices of action. Several of the action scenes depict the RPG’s protagonist single-handedly combating dragons, the major antagonists of the game.

When watching the two-minute trailer it is clear to see that Skyrim’s visuals have come on leaps and bounds since the release of Oblivion five years ago, primarily due to the replacement of the Gamebyro development engine, responsible for many of the technical faults that often marred the sense the immersion in prior Bethesda games.
