E3 2011: Tomb Raider Franchise Rebooted; CG Trailer Released

June 8, 2011

At E3, Square Enix took the wraps off its long-awaited Tomb Raider reboot. Featuring a completely new look and style, as well as a new, yet-to-be-named voice actress, Tomb Raider is now adult-only. Filled to the brim with violence and adult content, it’s a jarring change for a family-friendly franchise, but nonetheless the rebooted game looks to be stunningly visceral and a strong contender for Game Of The Year awards following its release in 2012.

Details are slim at this time, but it appears that Lara begins the game as a young woman seeking adventure rather than a battle-hardened tomb raider with near-superhuman abilities, able to tackle every obstacle put in her way, and if you watch the CG trailer below you’ll see that she really has it rough at the beginning of her supposedly ‘fun’ voyage.
