E3 2013- Our First Look At Wolfenstein: The New Order
Wolfenstein: The New Order is the ninth and latest installment to the Wolfenstein series. This action/adventure first-person shooter being developed by MachineGames will be published by Bethesda Softworks, so we stopped by their booth to give it a look.

It's been four years since we've last seen Captain William "B.J." Blazkowicz, but this time around the top agent for the U.S. OSA has just woken up from a coma only to discover everything he had fought for is gone. It's 1960, the Nazis have won the war and someone is desperately needed to lead the resistance against their global oppression.
Wolfenstein's hero B.J. Blazkowicz, ready to blow stuff up.
During the Wolfenstein demo we see B.J. meet one of his antagonists Frau Engel who, along with her boy toy Bubi, choose to intimidate their victims by playing pointless mindgames whilst putting their awkward sexual relationship on display. This gives us a sense of how demented the Nazi regime has become, just in case the robotic super soldier monstrosities you have to face weren't enough. We then jumped ahead to an intense firefight that displayed the wide arsenal of interesting and lethal weaponry at your disposal. One of these is a very useful laser cutter that's needed to slice through grates that block your way. During the hands-on part of the demo, I used the laser cutter to etch designs into the grating, impressed that it wasn't just used to cut predetermined-sized holes in the metal.
Watch the video below to see what Andreas Ojerfors, Senior Gameplay Designer, and Jim Kjellin, CTO of MachineGames, had to say about the adventuring aspect of the gameplay as well as their implementation of technology not used before in the franchise.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is expected to be released by the end of year.
