Paradox Interactive has released Europa Universalis III Divine Wind. This fourth expansion to 2007’s critically-acclaimed Europa Universalis III will move the action away from the European nations to focus on Asian countries such as Japan and China. In addition, the expansion will offer a wide number of gameplay tweaks. According to Paradox Interactive, the expansion will allow players to “play as one of four major daimyo’s in Japan vying for influence over the Emperor and control over the Shogunate.” In conjunction with this new addition, the game will include improved diplomacy, realistic trading, multiplayer for up to 32 players and over 50 unlockable achievements.

The game is now available through numerous digital distribution platforms and retails for $19.99. The expansion will require both Europa Universalis III and its Heir to the Throne expansion to work.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Europa Universalis III is a grand strategy game where players are pushed to control a nation while managing matters of war, diplomacy, trade and economy.
