During EA's Gamescom 2011 press conference, developer DICE showcased a breathtaking multiplayer trailer for their highly-anticipated shooter Battlefield 3.

In the video, tanks roam through realistic grasslands, jets bursts through the air leaving tails of jettisoned smoke, and explosions destroy the landscape showering debris across the war-torn land. It all looks very intense and realistic.

Taking advantage of the PC as the lead platform, the Swedish game developer has ensured gamers that the PC version will be the premier one to get. Gamers with modern graphics cards will be able to take advantage of Battlefield 3's new Frostbite 2 engine and its DirectX 11 support.

In addition to the impressive trailer, DICE also debuted co-op in the game, a first for the series. Playing a co-op build on EA's stage, two representatives worked together to coordinate stealthy timed attacks to capture a traitor and engaged in a defend-the-moving-tank type mission. According to DICE, co-op will feature the full breadth of Battlefield gameplay including vehicular, aerial, and urban warfare combat.

Players can jump in on the action together when Battlefield 3 launches October 27.
