Valve has released new Steam hardware figures for the month of December 2010. In terms of GPU usage, NVIDIA came out on top.

The results showed that 59.11% of Steam users gamed with NVIDIA cards. Conversely, ATI cards came in second place and were used 32.98% of the time. Intel graphics were used 6.22% of the time and 1.69% used "other" cards.

In terms of DirectX GPUs, most Steam users are currently running DirectX 10 cards yielding a percentage of 72.13. In second place were DirectX 11 GPUs, which stood at 15.64%. The rarest cards featured DirectX 8, which stood at 2.8%.

It will be interesting to see what kind of affect NVIDIA's latest GPUs, namely the very well-received GeForce GTX 580 and 570, will have on the playing field.
