Play Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams Now on NVIDIA SHIELD
We hope you’ve enjoyed slaying zombies over the past week in Dead Island Riptide, we know we have! And this week, as promised, we’re serving up something completely different for you to enjoy on your SHIELD device: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams.
A platform game styled after Mario Bros., Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams was funded on Kickstarter and is the successor to The Great Giana Sisters, which first appeared on the Commodore 64 in 1987 and was re-imagined for the Nintendo DS in 2009. Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams has a cult following of enthusiastic fans, boasts a 4-star rating on MetaCritic, and has been universally praised by critics for its unique gameplay mechanics, clever level design, and lush visuals.
Playing as older sister Giana, you must rescue your younger sibling, Maria, from a dangerous dreamworld that’s filled with all types of devious traps and deadly monsters. Your greatest asset is your ability to switch between cute and punk versions of yourself at the press of a button, which immediately grants you different abilities that you can use to overcome obstacles.
Cute Giana has a twirl maneuver that slows her rate of decent, enabling her to float past deadly traps. And punk Giana has a fiery dash that can be used to traverse wide gaps or to defeat enemies in combat. And Giana’s sudden personality shifts are not cosmetic, either—each time you change personas, not only do your skills change but the look and layout of the levels completely changes, too, along with the music.
We can pretty much guarantee that you’ve never played a platformer quite like Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. Experience it for yourself by navigating to the GRID Games menu inside the SHIELD Hub app, select Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams from the list of available titles, and start playing!
The GRID Games library now includes 42 games that you can play on-demand on your SHIELD for free, and NVIDIA’s committed to adding new games every week. Use the hashtag #SHIELDTuesday on Twitter to stay up-to-date with new releases.
GRID is an on-demand gaming service that streams a library of popular games to SHIELD devices in high definition, with fluid frame rates and low latency. GRID is like Netflix for games, and it’s available exclusively to SHIELD owners in North America, most of Western Europe, and Asia-Pacific for free through June 30, 2015. Go here to learn more.
