An action role-playing game, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North gives Lord of the Rings fans the chance to hack, slash and magic missile their way through recognizable locations from the films and novels whilst molding their chosen protagonist however they deem fit.
Designed for adults, War in the North is the first Lord of the Rings title to follow the footsteps of the famous films by catering to an audience that’s more likely to appreciate the intricacies of the story and surrounding lore, and not just focus on the action.
Taking place simultaneously alongside the aforementioned movies, War in the North has a human Ranger, an Elf and a Dwarf defend Rivendell and the Free peoples of Eriador and Rhovanion from a powerful enemy. In single-player you are accompanied by two A.I. companions, but online you can play the entire game co-operatively with two friends, hacking and slashing through the enemies and sharing in the spoils of war, which primarily consists of loot to enhance your chosen character with.
What’s more, you can play the entire game in stereoscopic NVIDIA 3D Vision, further adding to the immersion and action, as screen elements pop out during battles with trolls and other Middle-Earth nasties.
