Many years ago, war decimated the outer galaxies. With no real victor emerging, the universe was left to the mercy of pirates, scavengers, and brigands. For those fledging worlds who wished nothing of conflict, security became a primary asset.
There were spots in the galaxy that remained pristine – primordial, emerging planets that promised to be the only hope of a new generation – and unknown benefactors set out to make sure these planets would be protected throughout their evolutions. And so was created the Orbital Defense Station upon OperaPoint—a moon converted into a massive cannon facility, operated by robots, defending a purely organic paradise devoid of any intelligent life-form. The sponges, single-celled organisms, and plant life flourished without any idea what was protecting them above.
