Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Game Update Improves PhysX Performance

Featured Stories

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has received a new game update, which among other things rebalances the PhysX detail levels to better accommodate a wider variety of systems. Now, even those with lower-end systems can enjoy the added detail, immersion, and realism that PhysX introduces. If you’ve yet to see the PhysX enhancements, here’s a taste:

As of the latest game update, the PhysX detail levels are as follows:

  • Low: Enables PhysX weapon effects and smoke bomb effects. PhysX particles interact solely with characters.
  • Medium: In addition to character interaction, PhysX particles now interact with objects and the environment.
  • High: As above, but with the addition of camp fire smoke, chimney smoke, and other environmental PhysX effects.

For High, we recommend a multi-GPU SLI system if you’re also using the game’s other high-end graphics settings, as detailed in our Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Graphics & Performance Guide.

Don't forget, if you're in the market for a new GPU, many of our own cards include a free copy of the critically-acclaimed game. Please note that NVIDIA cannot provide download codes and coupons for purchases made at non-participating retailers and e-tailers.
