The first episode in Telltale's five-part Back to the Future series comes out this Wednesday, December 22. To commemorate the point-and-click adventure series' upcoming launch, the developer has released a trailer for the game.

Telltale Games has designed the Back to the Future games to be a five-part series. According to Telltale, the episodic series takes place "six months after the events of the third film. The DeLorean Time Machine mysteriously returns to Hill Valley. Marty must go back in time and recruit aid from a resistant teenage Emmett Brown [aka "Doc"], or else the space-time continuum will be forever unraveled."

Featuring the likenesses of the movies' cast, Christopher Lloyd has returned to reprise his role as Doc Brown. While Marty McFly will indeed be the star of the game, he will not be voiced by original actor Michael J. Fox. Instead, the series will showcase voice actor AJ Locascio's eerily similar vocal pipes.

Addressing fans' concern that the games may not live up to the standards set by the movies, Bob Gale, co-creator and co-writer of the films said, "Telltale's Back to the Future game is the first videogame in the space-time continuum to be truly worthy of being called 'Back to the Future.' This new adventure of 'Marty McFly' and 'Doc Brown' is true to the spirit of the movies and I couldn't be happier about the great working relationship I've developed with the team at Telltale." He added, "[in the games] the player gets to explore and experience more about the history of our characters and Hill Valley... along with some very interesting alternate time lines." Gale concluded that "it's a game for people who loved the movies, made by people who loved the movies."

Telltale's other notable episodic series include the popular Sam & Max and Wallace & Gromit games. Fans will be able to purchase the Back to the Future series on Valve's digital distribution service Steam or through
