Battle for DOTA 2 Supremacy in the Philippines
The high-pitched screams. The glitzy celebrities. The jam-packed arena. It has the making of a concert by a top entertainer. But, it’s more than that. It’s an eSport tournament of the highest level – garnered by eight of the world’s top teams. Welcome to the DOTA 2 gaming tournament in the Philippines!
Thousands of gamers and fans gathered at ESL One Manila to catch this massive competition on April 23 and 24.
The top players deserve the best equipment so they pitted their skills using 60 PCs powered by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, a high-performance graphics card designed for serious gaming. Built on the NVIDIA Maxwell architecture, it features advanced technologies and class-leading graphics for incredible gaming experiences.
To further enhance the visual experience, NVIDIA is also sponsored 60 new Acer XB241 G-SYNC monitors, which had the gamers drooling. These new monitors leverage NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, which gives professional players a competitive edge with smooth, tear-free gaming at up to 180Hz refresh for the fastest reaction times and reduced motion blur for the best image quality.
During the event, NVIDIA community manager Fred Chen gave a rundown on this new monitor, which incidentally is the first of its kind in the market.
With the high-octane NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970-powered PC coupled with the Acer XB241 G-SYNC monitor, the tournament was of the highest quality and a mighty battle worth watching.
But, the competition was not just for gamers. Fans joined in the fun too and engaged even before the tournament began. Many have posted photos or drawn images of themselves dressed up as their favourite DOTA characters on Facebook. It’s amazing to see the many submissions of the NVIDIA fans transforming themselves as Riki, Queen of Pain, Wisp, Invoker, Zeus, Axe, Lyralei, Pudge, Elder Titan, Windranger, and other characters. The reward for the top 15 valid entries with the most “Likes” was a ticket to ESL One Manila.
Another pre-event promotion was NFAN Pubstomp Manila, the first NFAN event to celebrate the gaming momentum in the Philippines. Many have registered their interest at the NFAN Pubstomp Manila page and 100 of the most-engaged fans got to attend the event at The Net.com on April 22. The gathering had all the works that gamers and fans dream of – food, games and loads of exciting prizes, including a modding gaming laptop. They also got a GeForce Update and tech training on G-SYNC monitor, GeForce Experience and GeForce GTX GPU.
At both the fan gathering and the DOTA 2 tournament, NVIDIA eSport evangelist Clay Causin shared NVIDIA’s thrilling eSport initiative which is sure to further fuel the gaming scene in the Philippines.
ESL ONE Manila is certainly going to be a power-packed time for gamers in the country.
