At last week’s Game Developers Conference Epic Games were demonstrating the latest upgrades to their Unreal Engine 3 technology, but not to be outdone, Crytek were also on hand with their own real-time demonstration, showing the latest advances made to CryEngine 3. Used in-house for Crysis 2, and licensed out to third parties, one of CryEngine 3’s major selling points is that of its real-time editor, allowing developers to quickly make gameplay scenarios, and then instantly test them in-game without a lengthy delay while the scene is compiled and rendered.
