Battlefield 3 developer DICE has released a short, quick-cut teaser trailer today showing the first in-game action from the long-awaited first-person shooter. The nature of the footage makes it difficult to ascertain any significant details pertaining to the game’s visuals, though it would appear that they are on the cutting edge, as suggested by the EA-owned studio in a magazine interview conducted ahead of the game’s official announcement earlier this month.

The new trailer also promotes the Battlefield 3 Back To Karkand downloadable addon, a free extra for anyone who pre-orders the game. Containing four of the most popular Battlefield 2 maps, the addon also includes classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements, and a variety of upgrades to bring the Battlefield 2 content up to standard. That means full physics-led destructibility, improved graphics and new sounds. Anyone not pre-ordering will have to pay for access to the downloadable content a month to two months after the game’s late 2011 release.
