Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Hijacks NVIDIA SHIELD

In 1997, Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto on PC, a game that not only spawned a massive, multiplatform gaming franchise but also paved the way for the open-world genre of video games.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars harkens back to the original GTA’s top-down perspective in an engrossing installment developed exclusively for handheld gaming devices. Now, gamers can experience GTA: Chinatown Wars on NVIDIA’s SHIELD family of devices including the SHIELD tablet and SHIELD portable.

The game puts players in the unenviable role of Huang Lee, a privileged rich kid who has just lost his father to a gang homicide. Huang's father was a Triad member living in Liberty City, and Huang's life is about to undergo a radical transformation.

At the beginning of the game, he is asked to deliver an ancient sword to his Uncle Kenny, which will ensure that Huang's family remains in a position of power. Unfortunately, that delivery goes horribly wrong and Huang is left for dead. Throughout the course of the game, he'll become intimately familiar with the seedy underbelly of Liberty City.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars features an epic storyline packed with gripping side-missions, mini-games and numerous hidden collectibles. Eurogamer called the game a "triumph" and awarded it a perfect score of 10/10, with numerous other outlets weighing in on the title in a similar manner. "Unless you despise GTA," wrote Modojo, "Chinatown Wars is an essential purchase."

The Android edition of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars boasts enhanced graphics, lighting and explosion effects that look great on the NVIDIA Tegra K1-powered SHIELD tablet and Tegra 4-powered SHIELD portable. The game also features full controller support for SHIELD. Players can customize those controls to suit their preferences and play style.

If you're ready to return to Liberty City, whether you enjoyed Chinatown Wars the first time around or missed out on one of the best games in the GTA series, you can get the full version of the game for $4.99, which is practically a steal. You can download the game now on NVIDIA SHIELD from both the SHIELD Hub and TegraZone.
