GamesCom 2013: NVIDIA’s Stand Plays Host To Assassin’s Creed IV, Splinter Cell Blacklist, & Exclusive Stage Content
The doors opened today at GamesCom, welcoming enthusiast gamers from around the world to the five-day German expo, where the 280,000 expected attendees can go hands-on with the upcoming titles we can’t wait to play. At the expansive NVIDIA stand, gamers flocked to our all-black, non-reflective gaming room, kitted out with the latest high-end GeForce GTX 770 systems. In the high-tech room, attendees checked out an exclusive naval mission from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s single-player campaign, and sampled the highly-anticipated 4v4 Spies vs. Mercs multiplayer mode in Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist.
Here’s NVIDIA Senior PR Manager, Ben Berraondo, to tell you more about what’s going on at GamesCom, the world’s biggest gaming event:
In addition to all the great stuff mentioned by Ben, our stage is hosting events throughout GamesCom. Today, our MC whipped the crowd into a frenzy with t-shirt, hat and clacker giveaways, showings of brand new trailers for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham City and Watch_Dogs, information about the fidelity-enhancing NVIDIA technologies in Splinter Cell Blacklist, and presentations of a jaw-dropping Witcher 3: Wild Hunt tech trailer, demonstrating the amazing features and effects of the 2014 game.
At the conclusion of each presentation the most vocal and excited gamers were selected from the crowd and pit against one another in challenges, the winners walking away with uber-desirable GeForce GTX 700 Series graphics cards.
Attendees were also able to learn about the features and technology embedded in the ultimate gaming and entertainment portable, the NVIDIA SHIELD. With a Tegra 4 chip and some cutting-edge tech, the SHIELD is the most powerful Tegra gaming device available, and the only one capable of playing Tegra 4 titles, which feature enhanced graphics, PC-style visual effects, and a host of other extras that simply won’t work on other handhelds. With the space afforded by GamesCom, our team were also able to take the Parrot AR.Drone for a spin using the free app available on Google Play. With a few aerial stunts and some swift handiwork at the controls, many “oohs” and “ahhs” were elicited from the enthralled crowd, who were witness to the most advanced Parrot AR command and control system available, extending to first-person, real-time footage of the drone’s flight path, direct from its on-board camera.
German e-tailer one.de stopped by, too, giving away hundreds of mice, keyboards, mouse mats and t-shirts to the thronging crowd, as well as several GPUs to especially-lucky gamers.
All in all, we’re off to a great start, with a packed stage and stand, exclusives galore, and several big announcements to come in the next few days. Stay tuned to GeForce.com and Facebook for more news and revelations from the world’s biggest gaming expo, hosted in Cologne, Germany.
