GeForce.com recently had the opportunity to go hands-on with Lenovo's upcoming IdeaPad Y570. The notebook computer is relatively small, but promises to pack a mean multimedia punch.

With the "Y" series of Lenovo's IdeaPads, the company is targeting the multimedia enthusiast/gamer. In essence, it will be the premium line of IdeaPads.

The build GeForce.com was able to see included a latest generation Intel i5 core processor and a NVIDIA 555m GPU. Lenovo tells us that there will be a 2D and 3D model. While previous models incorporated 3D support through polarized glasses, the new Y570 will support NVIDIA's active shutter glasses. Unlike the more 3D-space restrictive polarized glasses, NVIDIA's active shutter glasses encompass a greater depth of 3D view and thus grants gamers much more freedom to move around.

In addition to its visual capabilities, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 will include high-quality JBL speakers and will support up to one terabyte of hard-drive space.

The base model will retail for $899. Lenovo expects to launch the IdeaPad Y570 in May 2011.
