Markus Persson, developer of indie game Minecraft, has revealed that his sandbox block-building game has sold over one million copies. This is an incredible accomplishment, considering the independently-developed game is still in beta.

For those unfamiliar with the java-based game, Minecraft gives players the tools to build any three-dimensional construct they can imagine. In the beta build of the game, monsters come out at night and players are encouraged to build defensive shelters.
