id Software Releases 'Untethered' Rage Trailer

Bethesda Softworks has unleashed the latest trailer from id Software’s Rage. Featuring an original song composed exclusively for the first-person shooter by Mark Lanegan, of Gutter Twins fame, the story-led trailer quickly cuts between scenes of wanton violence in the American wastelands created by an apocalyptic asteroid strike.

Powered by id’s Tech 5 game engine, today’s trailer exemplifies the visual prowess of the technology that will power a number of new games from Bethesda Softworks and the soon-to-be-unveiled Doom 4. In the case of Rage, Tech 5 allows id to build highly detailed expansive outdoor areas for the first time, having previously been restricted to developing corridor shooters due to the limits of the technology.
